Finding Auto Engine Parts and Auto Repair Tools at Low Prices
Many of us consider our car to be one of our most important investments. Cars give us a chance to be free to go anywhere, as far as we feel like going, and at whatever time we want. You have worked hard to put enough money away for a down payment. Each month you have to keep covering the costs of insurance and your car payment. But when your car needs auto care, the extra expenditure can throw your budget off. That’s why these tricks for getting low-cost automobile parts and car repair tools can make a big difference in your budget at the end of the month.
Mainenance Costs: Automobile Repair Tools for Much Less
If you have a standard maintenance repair; maybe a light to replace or a brake pad or oil change, why not try to do it yourself? There are many books and videos that show you how to get these simple tasks done quickly. The benefit to doing it yourself is that you’re only paying for the necessary parts.. The auto repair shops can really mark up the parts, plus, it can cost $65 or more per hour to have their employees do the work. If you are uneasy about fixing your own vehicle, ask your family or friends if they can help you out or consider taking your car to a college campus to have supervised students do the work. With a small investment of a free meal, family and friends are usually more than happy to pitch in; college shops cost at least half of what the repair shops cost.
The Benefits of Local Auto Care
Other maintenance issues can require additional training or tools, but you can still do them. Take, for example, resurfacing rotors, figuring out what an engine code means, or replacing spark plugs. Local auto parts stores oftentimes provide less-expensive diagnostic and resurfacing services than at the specialized repair shops. Diagnosing engine codes can be especially frustrating. In some states, you can go to a local parts store and they will diagnose the problem. However, some localities do not permit this, but the diagnostic tool is only a nominal cost at around $200. It can cost $90 or so to have your dealer run a diagnostic test on your car’s computer. But you can have this tool in your arsenal of automotive repair tools for about what it would cost to visit the dealer twice!
Automobile Parts For Less: You Don’t Have to Visit the Dealer
Resurfacing rotors can present challenges because they have to be “meaty” enough before they can be resurfaced. A minimum millimeter of metal is required to remain at a nominal depth. However, the good news is that your rotors will be measured by the facility and they’ll let you know if they meet minimum requirements. Moreover, they will either resurface them for you or can help you purchase new rotors. Equally as easy, spark plugs can be purchased at the car care and supply store and the minimum gap is displayed visibly on the package. If you need a gapping tool, they are available for under $5. You can also rotate your own tires by using a standard jack.
Save yourself major cash by doing the minor repairs on your automobile or truck. You can extend your car’s life and get more out of your hard-earned dollars, while using the additional cash to get more time enjoying life!
